A great way to reduce the amount of garbage accumulated on a daily basis is to invest in a good quality garbage disposal. Disposals efficiently grind up and whisk away leftover food particles, making kitchen cleanup less of a chore.

Waste disposal models often feature anti-jamming devices, to eliminate simpler jams and provide smoother operation.  Pricier models often have enhancements that make them run more quietly, such as an insulated outer shell or a sound baffler.  In addition to these features, models with stainless steel grinding chambers, shredders, and sink flanges tend to provide more effective and long-lasting performance.

Another feature to consider is whether or not the disposal allows you to attach it to your dishwasher.  This feature may eliminate the chore of having to pre-rinse your dishes before placing them in the dishwasher.

Finally, if there is a septic tank present, remember that disposals use a great deal of water and may require more frequent tank cleaning.  As a final note, be sure to consider the terms and conditions of the service warranty, and the cost of any additional parts that may be necessary.
